Brothers and Sisters,
Happy New Year! I hope and pray this year is a joyful year for all of you.
This past Sunday, in our combined lesson, we introduced the 2025 Ward Vision. This vision is a set of goals that will help us "Walk with Christ Daily". As a Bishopric and Ward Council, we hope that you will "Look unto Christ" (D&C 6:36) and strive to apply different actions each day that will help you draw closer to your Savior.
I would invite you to ponder and pray to Heavenly Father to learn how you can walk with Jesus Christ every single day.
A couple of items that will help you draw closer to Jesus Christ each day include partaking of the sacrament each week and seeking Him in His holy house as often as you can. As you participate in holy ordinances and as you make covenants with the Lord, you bind yourself to Jesus Christ.
We have been promised by our prophet, Russell M. Nelson, "Regular worship in the temple will help us. In the house of the Lord, we focus on Jesus Christ. We learn of Him. We make covenants to follow Him. We come to know Him. As we keep our temple covenants, we gain greater access to the Lord's strengthening power. In the temple we receive protection from the buffetings of the world. We experience the pure love of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father in great abundance! We feel peace and spiritual reassurance, in contrast to the turbulence of the world." (Liahona, November 2024, p. 121)
In addition, he stated, "Brothers and sisters, now is the time for you and for me to prepare for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Now is the time for us to make our discipleship our highest priority." (p. 121)
"My dear brothers and sisters, in a coming day, Jesus Christ will return to the earth as the millenial Messiah. So today I call upon you to rededicate your lives to Jesus Christ. I call upon you to help gather scattered Israel and to prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord. I call upon you to talk of Christ, testify of Christ, have faith in Christ, and rejoice in Christ!" (p. 122)
I invite you to walk with your Savior and Redeemer each day. Look unto Him in all of your thoughts and actions. Trust in Him. Learn of Him. Serve Him. Draw closer to Him. I promise as you do so, He will strengthen you and bless you with peace and joy in this new year!
I love you brothers and sisters!
Sincerely,
Bishop Kory Cox
Taylorsville 23rd Ward
